Fasting is incredibly revitalizing for the body and essential for body functioning, self-healing and promotes all revitalizing processes. You can easily promote your health in a big way by removing what blocks the flow, like constipation for example. When you increase the body&#8217;s cleansing, repair and regeneration, this means that the body&#8217;s healing processes can go into full swing. Then your self-healing can function optimally &#8211; clearing out what is disturbing, and regenerating (recreating and renewing) what is needed. Fasting is great for this.     <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>NOTE: not everyone should fast &#8211; see text at the bottom. There is also a bit about my personal experience. <\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Regular exercise is scientifically proven to promote good health, but you can only prolong and rejuvenate life when exercise is combined with fasting. This lifestyle lays the foundation for <em>longevity <\/em>or <em>youngevity <\/em>&#8211; which means living longer and being healthy and fit. It is <em>only <\/em>when you abstain from food that you can have a renewal of cells\/organs, stem cells and the production of growth hormones &#8211; including the growth of neurons (the brain)! As soon as you start eating, these processes are interrupted. Natural fats may be fine, but glucose (carbohydrates) and amino acids (protein) immediately break the deepest healing effects of fasting.   &nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Your health and well-being is never set in stone. It is constantly changing, depending on what you feed your system. Rejuvenation means more alertness and clarity of mind and thoughts, lighter body weight, no (or few) aches and pains, good nutritional intake, smoother and healthier skin without swelling, and better sleep. Our body is not built to eat all the time.<\/h3>\n<p>If you eat from early morning to evening, your body never gets any rest. It has to constantly process new food, and digestion draws a lot of power (energy). Also, your body fat is not burned, but you only store more in the fat depots.  &nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Constant eating actually puts stress on the body, because it needs to deal with all the food we put into it. It gets no rest at all if we eat a lot and too often. Cleansing, i.e. detoxifying the body, is a building process that takes a lot of energy.    &nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Since time immemorial, people have fasted and purged regularly as a way for the body to recover and detoxify. It is needed more than ever now, because we are not made for the constant stresses of today and the modern &#8216;fattening food&#8217;. This feeds inflammation and thus disease processes in the body, as the activation of junk genes brings inflammation. Inflammation depresses the immune system and thus impairs your health.   &nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>More than ever, we need to restrain and purge regularly. Both changing the diet and if possible fasting regularly. Not everyone can fast, but sometimes eating a smaller amount of food and less often is actually enough to feel better. Fasting is the cheapest, easiest and most practical method to optimize your body&#8217;s own self-healing. This is because of the reasons listed below.  <\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4. fasting facilitates weight loss<\/h3>\n<p>When you fast, you give your body time to burn stored energy (glycogen or fat). Fasting regularly &#8211; including intermittent fasting every day &#8211; is a method that creates natural balance in our bodies. It reduces hunger, stabilizes blood sugar levels, and improves insulin sensitivity.  <\/p>\n<p>Intermittent fasting is ideal because eating infrequently stimulates weight loss. For one thing, the fewer times you eat per day, the easier it is to regulate your weight. The longer you fast, the more weight you lose &#8211; because eating lowers growth hormone secretion. If you eat three times a day, you will have no GH secretion at all.   &nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><em>Did you know that overeating, gorging on food, can lower growth hormone levels by up to 80%. Snacking many times a day is definitely not recommended. In addition, elevated blood insulin levels lead to fat storage, which means increased obesity.  <\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">5. digestion takes 30-40% of energy, so you save a lot of energy.<\/h3>\n<p>When you fast &#8211; take a food break &#8211; your body can relax and work a little less. It can devote itself to cleansing, rebuilding, renewing and rejuvenating. Then everything will work so much better. Sounds logical, doesn&#8217;t it?   &nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Fasting is an active process, because when you stop eating, a clever cleansing and renewal system kicks in. It&#8217;s already installed within us, it doesn&#8217;t cost anything &#8211; we just need to pause to activate it. It is very important because impaired autophagy increases the scope for disease processes in the body, especially cancer and neurodegenerative diseases (such as Alzheimer&#8217;s, Parkinson&#8217;s, memory impairment and various forms of mental illness). &nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The main causes of impaired autophagic function are 1) the natural, age-related decline of autophagic processes, and 2) not water fasting (including lack of intermittent fasting). Stem cells are non-specialized cells with the ability to mature into different cell types. Recent research has shown that our body&#8217;s tissues and organs can be renewed at any age, as our own innate adult stem cells can be transformed into different cell types: liver, intestinal, lung and skin cells. More growth hormone activates the body&#8217;s production of new cells, more muscle and renews organs. Growth hormone allows you to build muscle even when you are fasting, so exercise is good. When researchers compared calorie restriction with water fasting, the latter was four times more effective in preserving muscle mass.   <\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">9. Counteracts uncontrolled cell growth  <\/h3>\n<p>Water retention inhibits genes and proteins that control cell division. Lower cell division means fewer random DNA mutations, resulting in both a lower risk of cancer and less accumulation of aged, frail cells. Water fasting activates apoptosis, which has a tumor-protective effect. Apoptosis means programmed cell death &#8211; and it protects against the establishment or development of cancer. Lack of glucose also activates apoptosis in cancer cells, research shows. Glucose is the main growth stimulator for tumor cells (water retention and cancer is a very hot, new area of research).     <\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">10. Fasting increases mental sharpness and memory&nbsp;<\/h3>\n<p>Fasting stimulates neurogenesis: the growth of new neurons and more neural pathways. So we become smarter both by exercising and by limiting energy intake (calorie restriction)! Fasting promotes the production of brain growth hormones, nerve growth factor (NGF), which has the potential to strengthen the psyche and counteract depression and dementia. They are needed to bring balance to our lives. Of course, water fasting requires a lot of willpower, motivation and reserve energy from the body. At the same time, you&#8217;re strengthening those very things, so it&#8217;s very good. You train your resilience, that is, your power of resistance (to stress). Those with higher resilience cope better with tough challenges and trials.     <\/p>\n<p>You also become more present because <strong>your senses are heightened when you fast<\/strong>. It also enhances taste and smell, so you get more out of eating when the fast is broken. <\/p>\n<p>Fasting, and especially water fasting, also has a spiritually strengthening aspect. This is why fasting is found in all religions and practiced by great gurus. When you are able to put yourself above physical, basic needs, it opens the door to growth. Waistline is not only something aesthetic, but is of great importance from a health point of view.       <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>Less swelling = less inflammation = better health!&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">NOTE: not everyone should fast!<\/h2>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>people who are malnourished, severely underweight or anemic&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>Children under the age of 18.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>Pregnant and breastfeeding women.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>People with eating disorders such as anorexia or bulimia.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>Seriously ill people on medication.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>Those who have a lowered general condition or are impaired by kidney disease, as the kidneys are burdened during this purification process.  <\/li>\n<li>Those with type 1 and 2 diabetes, taking prescription medication, gout or high uric acid can fast, but may need medical supervision (according to Dietdoctor Andreas Eenfeldt).
